About Bobby Magill

In addition to operating Restless West Photography, I am the environment reporter for The Coloradoan newspaper in Northern Colorado, and I freelance regularly for Popular Mechanics and other publications. My partner, Jacob, and I live in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Born on the peninsula of Charleston, S.C., and raised on James Island, S.C., I escaped the salty South in 2001, the day after I graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in communications. I sprinted to Colorado to work as a wilderness guide in the Weminuche Wilderness and then fled to New Mexico where I became a newspaper reporter in Socorro and Taos for four years. Since returning to Colorado in 2005, I’ve covered the environment beat for the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel, slinked about the terra cotta canyons of the Colorado Plateau, explored all 11 western states and immersed myself in the chaos and beauty of the Front Range.
